Shed Colour Coding for Machine Use

The management committee decided on 30 January, 2018, that we would change the system of colour coding which allows use of the various machinery and some power tools in the Shed.

The new system will place a coloured sticker on your name tag to indicate which group of machines you are qualified to use.

The machines also have the equivalent colour marked on them. You will therefore need to wear your name tag to be able to use any
machinery.

RED - Metal

gives approval to use metal work equipment, including angle grinders.

Graham Eagles and Neil Roulston are responsible for assessing members and managing that area.

YELLOW - Turning

gives approval to use turning equipment (lathes, band saw, drill presses, sanders, bench grinder)

Hugh Mill, John Spittal, and Dave Winthrop are responsible for assessing members and managing that area.

BLUE - General Wood-Working

gives approval to use general wood-working equipment (planers and buzzers; skill saws, bench saw, band saws; routers, sanders, drill presses)

Tony Nesbit, John Walkerdine, Neil Roulston, Graham Eagles, John Spittal, Michael Harrison, David Firth and Dave Winthrop are responsible for assessing members and managing that area.

No Colour on Name Tag

means can use the sanders and scroll saws but for other machinery must be supervised or helped by a qualified person.
